Our tour of the capital of Germany we start from the popular building, which can be seen from almost every place in Berlin.
This is 'Fernsehturm' - the Television Tower. When it was built at the end of 1960's it was the highest building in Berlin, and one of the highest in Eastern Europe, as that was constructed in Russian Zone of divided city.
For a long time the visitors were able to go to the big metal ball in the upper part of the tower, and look around Berlin, peeping curiously to the 'capitalists' American sector.
After the reunion it remained the popular place of everyday's visits also for the Berliners. There are two elevators to the Ball, which features the panorama terrace and the Tele-Cafe.
What a surprise! the ball rotates slowly around its axis, giving the opportunity to see the whole city panorama while sitting at the table and drinking beverage.
368 m high tower is opened for the visitors everyday from 9.00 till 1.00 at night. small entrance fee is worth every penny, especially when the cloudless sky promises spectacular views.
